JOE DALLESANDRO IN AUSTIN
Warhol star Joe Dallesandro will be making a rare personal appearance at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, August 6, 2005. Joe's post-Warhol film, Je t'aime moi non plus, written and directed by Serge Gainsbourg after his famous song of the same name, will be shown before a Q & A with Joe. Also featured in the film is Gainsbourg's ex-partner, French icon Jane Birkin, whose latest album, Rendez-Vous, was released last year to excellent reviews.

NICO AT BAM
The Brooklyn Academy of Music is showing the films of French director, Philippe Garrel, during the month of August. Of particular interest to Warhol addicts are the two films featuring Nico - The Inner Scar (La cicatrice interieure) on Monday, August 8, 2005 and High Lonliness (Les hautes solitudes) on August 22nd. Also of interest is The Birth of Love (La naissance de l’amour) on August 30th which features a soundtrack by John Cale. The website for BAM is at www.bam.org.
ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVE
The Anthology Film Archive in New York will be showing a selection of Ron Rice films in August and Jack Smith films in September, 2005. Rice's Chumlum will be screened on August 20th followed by three more films by Rice on August 21st, including The Flower Thief starring Taylor Mead. OVOWORKS

OvoWorks is a photographic agency headed by Kevin Kushel with an amazing roster of photographers that includes Warhol star Billy Name. The site features a large selection of Warhol-related photographs including Name's shots of the infamous backroom of Max's Kansas City. (Interiors of the backroom are rare because the room was lit with red light, making it difficult to take pictures.)
Among the other photographs featured on the site are Roberta Bayley's photos of the punk era, John Santanello's shots of Warhol stars during the shooting of the forthcoming French television documentary series on the Factory and Laura Rubin's shots covering the "Warhol circle to New York Now." Particularly interesting is Editta Sherman's photographs of the actress Tilda Swinton (above). Sherman is in her early 90s and knew and photographed Warhol. She still works in her Carnegie Hall Studio where Warhol reportedly shot footage of Brigid Berlin as "Detective Polk."

SIENNA MILLER IS RE-CAST AS EDIE
The Daily Mirror (August 1, 2005) is reporting that Sienna Miller has been re-cast as Edie Sedgwick in the forthcoming film, Factory Girl, after her break-up with Jude Law "following his fling with nanny Daisy Wright." According to the report, Miller was initially dumped from the film because she was not well known enough in America, although previous reports had her rejecting the role because of other commitments in London. She is currently performing in the West End production of Shakespeare's As You Like It.
In the Mirror, Kevin O' Sullivan quotes a source "close to Miller" who says: "Professionally speaking, being so badly treated by Jude is the best thing that's happened to Sienna. She always wanted the part of Edie but she simply wasn't famous enough in the States. Now she's deemed A-list famous. American movie producers don't ask too many questions about why everyone's writing about you. If you're in the papers you've made the grade ... and they want you."
MAGIC TRAMPS
A new Warhol related site is now online - devoted to the Magic Tramps - the band that Warhol star Eric Emerson performed with during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The site was created by Sesu Coleman, the drummer for the band (featured left in the above clip) whose online journal Moonlight Reflections details his involvement with the band from a personal perspective (the next segment of which is eagerly anticipated). The site also includes a large selection of flyers and photos from the 1960s and 1970s, a message board and articles which you can read while listening to the (excellent) music of the Magic Tramps in the background. MORRISSEY'S GOTHIC HORRORS ON DVD
Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula
are being released on DVD in the U.S. on September 20, 2005. Both films were directed by Paul Morrissey and feature Warhol star Joe Dallesandro. Dracula extras include a Morrissey and Udo Kier commentary. Frankenstein will also include a rarely seen screen test. The Paul Morrissey website is at: www.paulmorrissey.org.
WARHOL IN RUSSIA
More than 300 works by Andy Warhol will be touring Russia beginning on September 13, 2005 in Moscow. The exhibit is the largest Warhol exhibit to travel to Russia and will include paintings, films, sculptures and time capsules. PARIS IS BURNING
Paris is Burning is being released on DVD in the U.S. on September 6, 2005. This film has nothing to do with Warhol, but it's a brilliant documentary on the N.Y. drag balls during the 1980s which won a plethora of awards when first released including the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Festival.
WALTER HOPPS
Added to the articles section this month is an essay on the innovative curator, Walter Hopps, who died in March of this year. Hopps organized what is generally considered to be the first Pop exhibit in a museum and was also one of the original co-owners of the Ferus gallery which showed Warhol's Soup Cans in 1962.
